At RVs of West Texas, we know RVs. We love helping our loyal customers find the perfect RV for their family’s needs—especially when we can get them in a top-selling Jayco RV. For almost half a century, Jayco RVs have been creating trusted, reliable, and extremely comfortable RVs that keep families feeling secure and at home on the road. You’ll have trouble finding much in the way of Jayco RVs anywhere near Abilene, Texas unless you look at RVs of West Texas.
RVs of West Texas is located in Baird, Texas, just 25 minutes east of Abilene. But when we’re looking for yummy dining, unique shopping, and inspiring culture, we love driving over to what’s been dubbed “the Future Great City of West Texas.”
Abilene itself is located roughly 180 miles west of Dallas. It was established in 1881 as a shipping point on the Texas and Pacific Railway. In 1891, Simmons College opened. Simmons College is now known as Hardin-Simmons University and is one of three universities in Abilene.
From its universities to its parks to its museums, Abilene is filled with things to see and do. Families in the area will have a good time at the Abilene Zoo. Kids love the giraffe exhibition and the train ride. Another great family place is the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature, a museum that centers around the illustrations in children’s books. Kids and adults alike will love finding their favorite illustrations.
If you’re around Abilene during Christmas time, you should definitely try to catch a performance of The Nutcracker at the Paramount Theatre. In fact, you’re sure to find all sorts of amazing performances at this historic 1930-built theatre all year long.
There’s no place like home, and to us at RVs of West Texas, Abilene is as much of a home to us as our favorite Jayco RV.
