New Inventory     Jayco Jay Feather     Jayco Jay Flight

When it comes to choosing a travel trailer, Jayco is a trusted brand that offers a wide range of options to fit your needs. Two of their popular models, the Jay Feather and the Jay Flight, have some key differences that may influence your decision. Let’s compare the two to help you make an informed choice.

Size and Weight

As you likely guessed from its name, the Jay Feather is the smaller option of the two. Its weight ranges from 4,795-7,265 pounds, making it easier to tow. In fact, most Jay Feather models can be towed by full-size SUVs, and a midsize truck should be capable enough to tow the heaviest of them. Additionally, the Jay Feather has a length ranging from 24 feet to 36 feet 11 inches. At this size, you’ll have an easier time maneuvering and parking the RV.

Most Jay Flight models are larger and heavier, but not all. Its weight ranges from 4,290-8,970 pounds, meaning that its lightest floorplans are lighter than the Jay Feather, but its heaviest floorplans are also heavier and likely require a full-size truck for towing. As for the Jay Flight’s length, it ranges from 25 feet 8 inches to 40 feet 6 inches, so it’s also up to four feet longer.

Interior Features

Both models offer a variety of floor plans and amenities to fit your preferences. The Jay Feather has up to 10 different floorplans featuring modern designs with contemporary color schemes and a spacious interior. It has a variety of sleeping options, including bunk beds, convertible dinettes, and private bedrooms. Its maximum sleeping capacity is nine people.

The Jay Flight offers a similar range of sleeping options but with more luxurious finishes and upgraded features, such as a larger refrigerator and an optional fireplace. It also has more floorplans with more sleeping capacity: a whopping 27 floorplans and the ability to sleep up to 14 people. Many of its floorplans sleep at least 10 people. For regular camping trips with lots of company, the Jay Flight has the upper hand.

Build Quality

In this respect, both models are very similar. They are built to last, with sturdy construction and durable materials. The Jay Feather and Jay Flight feature the Magnum Truss™ Roof System, impact-resistant wheels wrapped in Goodyear® tires with Durawall® technology, Stronghold VBL™ laminated walls, and ride on strong, custom-made foundations designed to last for years to come. They also benefit from powerful warranties backed by both Jayco and its various suppliers.

Price and Versatility

The Jay Flight and Jay Feather are similarly priced, with the Jay Feather having a more narrow range of price options. Nearly all of its floorplans start in the $40,000s, while the Jay Flight’s floorplans have starting prices that span from the low $30,000s to the mid-$50,000s. No matter the RV you choose, make sure to consider the long-term value of your investment and pick the option that best suits your needs and budget.

The Jay Feather and Jay Flight are both excellent RVs with many strengths. If you have a less powerful tow vehicle and would feel more confident on the road with a smaller travel trailer behind you, the Jay Feather is a great choice. However, if you’re willing to invest in a more luxurious trailer, and want the flexibility to choose between more floorplans with a wider variety of options, the Jay Flight is the way to go.
